Motorpoint Leeds will be the used car retailer’s 22nd UK store, doubling its West Yorkshire presence
Used car supermarket Motorpoint is investing £15 million in a new Leeds store on Whitehall Road, near Elland Road, creating 40 jobs. Motorpoint Leeds will be the Derby-based retailer’s 22nd UK location when it opens this summer, with redevelopment of the site at 5–6 Whitehall Place already underway. The store will showcase hundreds of nearly new and used vehicles from more than 30 manufacturers, all available for same-day driveaway. Recruitment is underway for managerial, sales, and vehicle preparation roles.
What It Adds to West Yorkshire
The new store doubles Motorpoint’s presence in West Yorkshire, complementing its existing Castleford outlet. Together, the two sites will give customers access to more than 1,000 vehicles for browsing and test drives, plus thousands more through Motorpoint’s national online stock. The Whitehall Road site is around a mile from Leeds city centre, positioned on the southern approach to the city near the Elland Road stadium.
Motorpoint Leeds comes on the back of a strong trading period for the business. The company reported an 80% increase in pre-tax profit to £3.6 million in its interim results published in November 2025, with turnover up 15% to £647.7 million. Used car sales grew 7.4% against an overall market increase of 2.8%. The company’s full-year results for the year to March 2025 showed a return to profitability after what management described as its most difficult year, with pre-tax profit of £4.1 million on revenue of £1.17 billion.
“We’re excited to announce that we’re opening our 22nd store, just a stone’s throw away from Leeds city centre. Once open, Motorpoint Leeds will double our presence in West Yorkshire and give car buyers the opportunity to browse and test drive more than 1,000 vehicles across both our new Leeds store and our existing Castleford store, as well as thousands more cars through our national stock.”

Motorpoint’s Expansion Strategy
The Leeds opening is part of a wider expansion plan outlined by Motorpoint following its return to profitability. The company has said it is targeting areas of the UK with limited market presence, using its most recent store in Norwich as a blueprint for larger sites. Motorpoint operates a multichannel model, allowing customers to purchase vehicles online, in store, or by phone. Founded in Derby in 1998, the business now operates across England, Scotland, and Wales. The £15 million investment in the Leeds site is one of the largest single-store commitments the retailer has made and reflects its confidence in the West Yorkshire car market.
Why this matters for Leeds
A £15 million investment and 40 new jobs on Whitehall Road is a tangible commitment to Leeds from a national retailer that had a difficult few years but is now back in profit and expanding. The location near Elland Road puts a major used car operation on the southern approach to the city.![]()
