The Morley-headquartered parcel group adds half a million parcels a day of capacity as part of a £100m year of spending.
Evri has invested £32.2m in infrastructure, technology and automation so far this year, the parcel delivery group said on 26 October 2026 as it prepares for the Christmas peak. Run from the Evri Leeds headquarters at Capitol House in Morley, the group says the spending forms part of £100m it plans to put into its network before the end of the financial year.
Why This Matters For Leeds
Evri’s spending shows a Leeds-headquartered company investing heavily in UK parcel logistics. For online retailers it means more sorting capacity and a single fulfilment and delivery provider could mean more Christmas deliveries.
Half a million more parcels a day
Evri says the work lifts its capacity to 4.9 million parcels a day, around half a million more than last year. Over last year’s peak, volumes entering its network rose by almost 40% as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas shopping added millions of parcels.
More than £14m has gone on capacity, including more parcel lockers, network improvements and the latest phase of its Barnsley super hub, which has gained a third tier of sorting. The group has also opened a new fulfilment site in Barnsley, so retailers can have goods stored, packed and delivered by one provider in the UK and to the 220 destinations it serves worldwide.
Technology is the other strand. The money has supported Evri-ware, the company’s own technology platform, more automation and new hardware across its sites. Evri says it now checks 90 million delivery photos a month with Verisnap, an AI tool it developed itself.
The group, which calls its network the UK’s largest dedicated to parcels, runs seven national sorting hubs, 80 depots and more than 500 delivery units. For Christmas it is taking on 7,000 additional community couriers and 3,000 colleagues.
Martijn De Lange, chief executive of Evri Group, said: “Peak is the most important and demanding period of the year for many of our customers. Preparing for it isn’t something we start in the weeks leading up to Christmas.”
“This year we have already invested £32.2 million in infrastructure, technology and operational improvements ahead of peak but this forms part of a wider investment into the networks of £100m planned before the end of the financial year.”

Evri Leeds head office
Evri, formerly Hermes UK, completed its merger with DHL eCommerce UK in October 2025 and now handles more than one billion parcels a year. In August it set out a target of 1.4 billion a year by 2030, alongside a drive to recruit more than 10,000 people.
The projects named this year sit outside the city, chiefly in Barnsley. The Evri Leeds link is its head office in Morley, which keeps the management of a national logistics business inside the city’s council district.
Parcel delivery is competitive locally too. Rival InPost took a 145,000 sq ft warehouse in Leeds in February.
