About Financial Conduct Authority

The Financial Conduct Authority is the UK regulator for financial services firms and financial markets. It has offices in London, Leeds and Edinburgh. Its Leeds office at 6 Queen Street opened in 2022, and in October 2026 it announced a move to 2 Wellington Place in Leeds from 2028.

Firms that want to offer regulated financial services apply to the FCA for authorisation, and the FCA keeps the Financial Services Register of authorised firms and individuals. Its firms contact centre answers questions from regulated firms and applicants. Its Innovation Hub runs services for new propositions, including the Regulatory Sandbox for testing with real consumers, Innovation Pathways for help with how regulation applies and the Digital Sandbox with synthetic data.
