SPG Resourcing, the Leeds-based technology talent firm, has launched a specialist life sciences division and appointed experienced recruiter Nathan Sharpe to build it. The move takes the company into a sector worth close to £150bn a year, and reflects how far science and technology are converging. It is a notable diversification for a business built on placing software, cyber security and data specialists, and it will be run from the firm’s Leeds base.

The company is betting on the growing overlap between the two worlds and the new practice will focus on exactly that intersection.

A Senior Hire to Build the Practice
Sharpe joins with more than seven years in specialist recruitment focused on life sciences, deep technology and AI for science. He was most recently business lead at Skills Alliance, where he led its life sciences practice in Leeds building computational, machine learning and research teams, and previously spent five years at Charlton Morris as part of its life sciences leadership team. His brief is to build the new SPG Resourcing division from Leeds while developing relationships with life sciences businesses across the UK and internationally. Sam Hameed, managing director of the Solution Performance Group, said the launch was a strategic step, pointing to the convergence of specialist technology skills with science and the substantial opportunity that creates for a recruiter that understands both. For a Leeds firm, moving into a near-£150bn market is an ambitious next chapter, and one that fits the city’s growing strength in both technology and life sciences.
