Co-founder Sam Hameed takes control of the Leeds tech recruiter, which plans to grow its team to 18 and push into the US and London.
Leeds technology recruiter SPG Resourcing is targeting turnover of £11m within two years after co-founder Sam Hameed took control of the business in a management buyout from The Solution Performance Group. The deal, completed for an undisclosed sum, comes as the company expects revenue of £5m this year and plans to grow its team from 10 to 18 people by the end of 2027. The SPG Resourcing management buyout keeps the firm’s headquarters in Leeds.
Why This Matters For Leeds
Taking full control gives SPG Resourcing's management the freedom to back its Leeds headquarters as the base for expansion into new sectors and the US. For tech and life sciences employers in the city, it adds a locally run recruiter building specialist teams in their fields. Its hiring plans open more routes for experienced consultants to build careers in Leeds.
Growth plans for the UK and US
SPG Resourcing says it has recorded nine consecutive months of growth in 2026, despite difficult trading in parts of the recruitment industry. Independence from its former parent will let it invest in new recruitment markets, including life sciences and deep technology. The firm launched a life sciences division in August.
Sam Hameed said: “We’ve spent several years building the business and the management buyout gives us the freedom to decide where we invest and how we grow.” He added: “It’s a significant target, but we believe there’s a real opportunity to develop the business in the UK and overseas.”
Alongside its Leeds base, the company will keep its recently opened Manchester office and plans to establish a presence in London. The US is a key focus, with the business looking to increase recruitment in specialist technology sectors there.
The company expects most of its growth to come from expanding its existing operations, recruiting experienced consultants and setting up teams focused on individual markets.
“We're on track to achieve £5m in revenue this year and want to increase that to £11m within the next two years.”

Hiring plans after the SPG Resourcing management buyout
Sam Hameed said attracting and retaining staff would be central to hitting the targets. “Recruitment is a people business, and we need to attract good consultants who want to develop their careers with us,” he said.
“We want people to have the opportunity to build their own specialist markets, take on more responsibility and benefit from the success of the business. We’ve grown by developing long-term relationships with clients and understanding the sectors they operate in. That’s how we intend to continue.”
The SPG Resourcing management buyout also allows The Solution Performance Group to concentrate on its deep-technology operations. SPG Resourcing was set up within the group in 2021.
The deal adds to a run of Leeds management buyouts this year, including the £12m buyout at consumables firm AIC in September.
