The Leeds-based technology talent firm is opening the Manchester base to drive recruitment in deep technology, with a particular focus on robotics and artificial intelligence, and to support expansion into the United States, the UAE and other international markets. It has appointed Dylan Lancaster as divisional director to establish the operation. The move comes only weeks after the firm launched a specialist life sciences division, underlining a business in a hurry to grow.

A central part of the plan is building relationships with venture capital firms backing US technology start-ups, giving the recruiter early access to young companies at the point when hiring the right technical and leadership teams can make or break their growth. To lead it, the company has hired Dylan Lancaster, who joins from Ace Partners and spent four years building recruitment operations in Dubai before returning to the UK. SPG Resourcing’s managing director Sam Hameed said Manchester gave it a base in one of the UK’s strongest technology cities and put it in a better position to build internationally, though he stressed the firm’s ambitions were not defined by any single market.

The Manchester launch is the latest in a run of moves that mark SPG out as one of the city’s faster-growing talent businesses. The firm, based in the centre of Leeds, has built its reputation placing specialist technology talent in areas such as software engineering, cyber security and data science, and has been adding capability quickly, the recent life sciences practice, and now a deep-tech operation aimed at international markets. Lancaster said deep-technology companies increasingly had to look well beyond their local market to find the right people, creating an opening for recruiters with genuinely international networks. No financial targets or headcount figures were disclosed for the new office, and the international ambitions remain at an early stage.
