Gleeson Homes Expands Yorkshire Land Team From Leeds

The listed housebuilder has hired a senior land manager to feed a growing affordable-homes pipeline, months after moving its regional team to a Leeds office

A listed housebuilder is expanding its land team in Yorkshire as it scales up affordable-homes delivery from a new Leeds base. Gleeson Homes has appointed Stuart Mapp as senior land manager, tasked with securing sites to feed a growing regional pipeline. The hire follows the relocation of the company’s South and West Yorkshire team to a refurbished Leeds office earlier this year, and comes as the region targets around 500 new homes in 2026.

Affordable housing is one of Leeds’ most pressing needs, and delivery depends on builders with land, funding and local commitment. A national housebuilder basing its regional operation in Leeds and investing in the land expertise to feed a 500-home-a-year pipeline is a practical vote of confidence in the area. It also adds competition and capacity at the lower end of the market, where first-time buyers are most squeezed.

Building Out the Gleeson Homes Land Team

Stuart Mapp joins from Crest Nicholson, where he was also senior land manager, bringing more than 30 years in land acquisition, planning and residential development. He has held senior roles at Keepmoat, Redrow, Avant Homes and Wilcon Homes across both open-market and partnership-led schemes. In the new role he will work with the regional land team to secure short- and medium-term sites, as well as strategic land, to support the builder’s growth plans. He will be based at the company’s recently refurbished 4,327 sq ft office near Leeds city centre, the hub the regional team moved into after relocating from Sheffield in March, a move the business framed as putting it at the centre of the region it serves.

Scaling Affordable Delivery Across the Region

Gleeson Homes has more than 10 live developments underway across South and West Yorkshire, and its regional team is projected to build around 500 homes this year, part of a group target of 3,000 homes a year over the medium term. Its Leeds schemes include Waterloo Sidings at Halton Moor, a former railway sidings site set to deliver 133 affordable homes, designed by Leeds practice Edward Architects. The builder specialises in lower-cost homes aimed at first-time buyers and families on modest incomes. Securing a steady flow of land is what keeps that pipeline moving.
