Mills & Reeve Leeds Grows 23% as Firm Passes £200m

The national law firm broke £200m in turnover for the first time, with its Leeds office growing fee income by 23% and nearly 50% over three years

Mills & Reeve Leeds has posted another year of strong growth, with fee income up 23% as the wider firm broke through £200m in turnover for the first time. The national law firm reported record turnover of £206.9m for 2025/26, up 13.9% on the previous year. The Yorkshire team grew fastest across private wealth, insurance, food and agribusiness, technology and education, and has now expanded fee income by almost 50% over three years. The firm also confirmed an employee profit share pool of more than £3.25m, meaning most staff receive at least £2,300.

The Leeds result caps a sustained run: fee income rose 19% two years ago, 24% last year and 23% this year, the near-50% three-year figure the firm now cites. Growth has come across private wealth, insurance, food and agribusiness, technology and education, supported by lateral hires and promotions in the region. The office has also been expanding physically, having set out plans to roughly double its Leeds footprint as headcount grew. Beyond fee income, the Yorkshire team renewed its partnership with conservation organisation Make it Wild, and launched its annual Top Tech Yorkshire programme aimed at the region’s growing technology sector. The firm was also behind the femtech investment research published earlier this month, which highlighted how little women’s health funding reaches the North.

A Strong Run for the Leeds Legal Sector

The results extend a pattern of growth across the city’s law firms, following record revenue at Walker Morris and a wave of promotions at Clarion, Bevan Brittan and others. Firmwide, Mills & Reeve is pursuing a 2030 strategy that includes lifting international work to 30% of revenue through its M&R Global network, building a new C-suite, and investing in AI and other technology to improve efficiency. It employs more than 1,450 people and over 850 lawyers across seven offices. For Leeds, the significance is straightforward: a major national firm continuing to invest in and grow its Yorkshire base, at a time when demand for legal advice on deals, disputes and regulation across the region shows little sign of easing. The performance at Mills & Reeve Leeds suggests that momentum has further to run.
