CPMG Architects Leeds opens a new studio in Park Square as the Nottingham-headquartered practice expands into Yorkshire, led by two directors with Leeds roots
National architecture and interior design practice CPMG has opened a new studio in Leeds, choosing Park Square as the base for its expansion into the North of England. CPMG Architects Leeds will be led by associate director Alex Walker, who has been with the practice for more than 15 years, with support from director Nick Gregory. Both are from the Leeds area. The studio is CPMG’s fourth in the UK alongside Nottingham, London, and Birmingham, and the practice also has international hubs in China and India. CPMG works across education, healthcare, residential, and industrial sectors and has been designing buildings for more than 30 years.
Why This Matters For Leeds
CPMG already has projects in the region. Park Square puts them in the city’s professional services quarter. For Leeds’ architecture and construction community, a 30-year-old practice with education and healthcare expertise adds depth to the local design sector.
What CPMG Architects Leeds Will Focus On
The new studio will build on CPMG’s core strengths in education, healthcare, residential, and industrial design. The practice is already on site with new school projects in the North East and recently completed a purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Durham. Alex Walker said the studio will look to establish relationships with industry leaders across sectors and create pathways for local talent to build careers in design and construction.

“”Although CPMG has been actively working in the north of England for many years, it’s a proud moment for me personally to be leading our new studio in Leeds after more than 15 years with the practice. We believe Leeds is the ideal base for us to realise our growth ambitions across Yorkshire and surrounding regions.””
— Alex Walker, Associate Director, CPMG Architects
Why Leeds, Why Now
Director Nick Gregory said the Leeds opening follows the same approach CPMG has taken with its other studios — expanding only when the conditions are right to ensure growth remains sustainable. Both Gregory and Walker are from the Leeds area, giving the practice local knowledge alongside its national and international track record. The CPMG Architects Leeds studio will serve as a hub for projects across Yorkshire and the wider North, strengthening ties with existing clients and building new relationships in the region. CPMG joins a growing cluster of architecture and design practices with a Leeds presence, adding to the city’s offer for clients who want to commission design work locally rather than briefing firms based in London or the Midlands.
