Leeds Cyber Security Firm Xentra Raises £2.7m

The firm behind digital security for Leeds United and Leeds Bradford Airport has quadrupled recurring revenue in two years, and now has Maven Capital Partners backing

A Leeds cyber security firm that protects Leeds United and Leeds Bradford Airport has raised £2.7m to fund its next phase of growth. Xentra, which provides managed cyber security, safeguarding and compliance services on a subscription model, secured the investment from the Maven VCTs and NPIF II – Maven Equity Finance, both managed by Maven Capital Partners. The company has quadrupled its annual recurring revenue over the past two years and now supports more than 90 customers. The money will go into senior hires, product development and winning new business.

Xentra joins AppCheck, Boxphish, Cognisys, Precursor and Assured Data Protection in a cluster that has quietly become one of the city’s genuine specialisms, attracting private capital from BGF, LDC and now Maven. Each round funds skilled technical jobs in Leeds and builds the expertise base that draws the next company. With demand for outsourced security rising as regulation and insurance requirements tighten.

What Xentra Does, and Where the Money Goes

Xentra bundles software, managed services and advice into packages it calls STAX, sold through a central customer portal, an approach designed to simplify buying and running security infrastructure for organisations without large in-house IT teams. Its services range from around-the-clock monitoring to firewalls and email security, and it helps clients meet standards such as ISO 27001. Education is a particular strength: the firm supports schools and colleges covering roughly 125,000 pupils with safeguarding technology. Alongside Leeds United and Leeds Bradford Airport, its 90-plus customers include Shaw Education Trust, Vista Technology Support and JT Atkinson, plus local councils and NHS bodies. The investment will strengthen the senior leadership team, accelerate customer acquisition, fund sales and marketing, and expand the STAX range and customer portal.

A Third Venture in the Leeds Cyber Security Cluster

Xentra is the third cyber company built by chief executive Henry Doyle in the city. He co-founded Altinet, the Leeds business acquired by Arrow in 2020, and cyber training specialist Boxphish, which itself attracted growth investment from BGF. Xentra was founded in 2021 by Marc Fairclough as Fairtech Solutions; Henry Doyle acquired a majority stake and rebranded the business, with Marc Fairclough continuing as chief operating officer. It secured a six-figure loan from NPIF II – Mercia Debt Finance in 2024 before this equity round. Maven’s investor Lewis John pointed to rising cyber risk, regulatory standards and insurance requirements as the drivers behind demand for outsourced, subscription-based security, the market this Leeds cyber security business is scaling into.
