Why this matters for Leeds
Eastgate Quarter’s £1 billion deal proves Leeds-based developers can compete for—and win—transformational city centre projects, keeping major investment decisions in local hands. Khalbros and Torsion’s “Leeds of the future, by the people of Leeds” approach shows Yorkshire capital and expertise can deliver at scale, encouraging other landowners to choose local partners for complex regeneration. This validates Leeds’ evolution from retail-focused development toward residential and mixed-use neighbourhoods that reflect modern living patterns, creating city centre homes alongside workspaces and amenities that strengthen Leeds as a vibrant, 24-hour city where people want to live, work and invest.![]()
