The Leeds-based, private-equity-backed software company has made its second acquisition in 18 months, buying international patient-experience specialist Cemplicity
Radar Healthcare, the Leeds-based healthcare software company, has acquired patient-experience specialist Cemplicity, in its second acquisition in 18 months. The deal adds Cemplicity’s tools for capturing patient feedback and outcomes to the firm’s platform for quality, risk, compliance and safety in health and care organisations. The Leeds company, backed by global private equity firm Marlin Equity Partners acquired digital consent business EIDO Healthcare last year.
Why This Matters For Leeds
This is the kind of ambition the city’s health-tech scene wants to showcase. Radar Healthcare is building a broader platform from its Leeds base, backed by serious private equity money, and buying capability. That keeps a scaling business, and its senior jobs, anchored in the city. It strengthens the Leeds’ health-tech cluster when the region is actively promoting the sector.
What Radar Healthcare Has Bought
Cemplicity, founded in 2012, provides software that captures and analyses patient-reported experience and outcomes, the surveys and real-time feedback that tell health services how care is actually landing with patients. Adding it lets the combined business connect what patients report with the governance and improvement workflows that health organisations use to act on it, spotting risks earlier and reducing avoidable harm. The firm says customers will see no change to their existing service, with deeper integration to follow over time. The acquisition follows last year’s purchase of EIDO Healthcare, a digital consent and patient information provider, giving the group a portfolio that now spans consent, quality, risk, compliance and patient outcomes. Both deals have been made under the ownership of Marlin Equity Partners, which has more than $9bn under management.
“Together, we can help customers connect what patients are experiencing with the workflows needed to act on that insight and drive meaningful improvement.”
— Edward Bellamy, Chief Executive Officer, Radar Healthcare
Building a Leeds Health-Tech Player
The deal reinforces Radar Healthcare’s position as one of the anchor businesses in Leeds’ growing health-tech cluster. Chief executive Edward Bellamy co-chairs the West Yorkshire healthtech cluster group, which relaunched recently to attract investment to a sector the Combined Authority values at around £3bn. Using private equity backing to acquire complementary software businesses and build a single platform mirrors the buy-and-build model increasingly common across the sector, and echoes deal activity Leeds Today has reported elsewhere in the region. Cemplicity brings an international dimension, having built its patient-experience business across several healthcare markets. For Leeds, a locally headquartered firm making its second acquisition and expanding its reach is a welcome marker of ambition in a priority sector.
