FTI Consulting Leeds opens on Boar Lane with restructuring and debt advisory services as the NYSE-listed firm builds its northern presence alongside Manchester
FTI Consulting, the NYSE-listed global advisory firm that generated $3.8 billion in revenue last year, has opened a new office in Leeds on Boar Lane. FTI Consulting Leeds will initially focus on restructuring and debt advisory services for the mid-market, complementing the firm’s established Manchester office which opened three years ago. The expansion is anchored by the appointment of Matt McErlane as managing director in corporate finance, bringing more than 10 years of restructuring experience with a particular focus on retail and consumer-facing businesses. Two existing FTI managing directors Emma Lister from Manchester and Richard Hall from London are relocating to Leeds, with more hires to follow.
Why This Matters For Leeds
A $3.8 billion NYSE-listed firm with 8,100 employees across 32 countries choosing to open in Leeds is a statement about the city’s professional services market. The Boar Lane location puts FTI in the heart of the city’s professional services quarter. For Leeds’ mid-market businesses and their advisers, having FTI locally means access to a global restructuring platform.
What FTI Consulting Leeds Will Do
The Leeds office will provide integrated restructuring and debt advisory services, helping companies and their lenders, sponsors, and other stakeholders develop strategies for complex financial and operational challenges. Matt McErlane, the new managing director leading the office, has experience across large corporate mandates and regional mid-market situations. Matt Callaghan, head of UK restructuring at FTI Consulting, said opening in Leeds has been a strategic priority, building on the success of Manchester. With offices now in the northwest and Yorkshire, the firm is better positioned to serve businesses and sponsors across the North. He described the Leeds opening as just the beginning of the firm’s investment in the city.

“Opening an office in Leeds has been a strategic priority for some time, building on the success of our Manchester office launched just three years ago. With offices in the northwest and Yorkshire, we’re better positioned to help businesses and sponsors across the North with their restructuring and debt advisory needs. This is just the beginning.”

Building the Team on Boar Lane
The Leeds team is being built through a combination of external hiring and internal relocation. Emma Lister, a managing director currently in FTI’s Manchester office, and Richard Hall, a managing director from London, will both relocate to Leeds. McErlane joins from outside the firm. Matt Callaghan said more new hires will follow, and the firm is committed to continuing its investment to build the team and deliver services across Yorkshire and beyond. FTI Consulting joins a growing list of national and international professional services firms establishing or expanding a Leeds presence. CPMG Architects opened a Park Square studio this month, Cognisys expanded to 120 staff internationally from its Leeds base, and the Northern Square Mile continues to attract financial and advisory institutions to the city centre.
