The Leeds-based private equity firm has taken a minority stake in Green Group, a fast-growing recruiter serving the renewable energy and clean technology sectors

Leeds private equity firm Key Capital Partners has invested in a fast-growing recruitment business focused on the green economy. The firm has taken a minority stake in Green Group, the London-headquartered parent of The Green Recruitment Company and Green Executives, to fund the next stage of its expansion. The deal gives existing shareholders an equity release alongside fresh growth capital. Financial terms were not disclosed. It is the latest move by one of the region’s established investors into a sector tied to the transition to net zero.

Green Group is a specialist recruiter for the global green economy, helping companies hire across renewable energy, clean technology, manufacturing, ESG and green finance. Formed in 2020 to bring The Green Recruitment Company and Green Executives together, it has scaled rapidly, growing headcount from 20 to more than 80 staff and turnover from $2.5m to more than $35m, while expanding from permanent hiring into contract, executive search and outsourced recruitment services. Though headquartered in London, the group runs an international office network across Europe, South Africa, North America and Asia. The new capital is earmarked for technology including artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, consultant training, deeper expansion across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, and growth in its contract workforce business.

A Leeds Player in the Green Transition

Key Capital Partners, based at Park Place in the city, has built a track record in people-focused businesses, having previously backed staffing and training firms including Templine, Hallam Medical, EarthStream Global, NursePlus and Sparta Global. This investment extends that theme into the green economy, a sector with strong structural growth as countries pursue net-zero targets. As part of the deal, Oliver Watson, formerly a senior figure at recruiter Michael Page, joins Green Group as chair. The transaction adds to a busy period for regional dealmaking, and shows a Leeds firm backing the businesses that will supply the skills the energy transition depends on.
