Leeds is set to become a major hub for one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports. Slazenger Padel has announced plans to open a second Leeds venue as part of an aggressive expansion that will see over 10 new clubs launch across the country this year, taking the total to around 150 courts nationwide.
The new Leeds South club will be located at Millshaw Park in LS11, joining the existing 12-court Leeds North facility in Seacroft which opened in October 2024. The brand, owned by Frasers Group, is positioning itself as the leading name in UK padel — a racquet sport that blends elements of tennis and squash and has exploded in popularity in recent years.
What the Leeds Padel expansion means for players
Slazenger’s latest opening — a 30,000 sq ft club in Blackburn featuring nine padel courts and, for the first time, two pickleball courts — showcases the brand’s multi-purpose destination strategy. Each venue combines premium courts, coaching, social spaces, a members’ bar and pro shop.
The company says demand for high-quality, inclusive facilities has surged since it launched its first UK club in Leeds. With Leeds South now confirmed, the city will offer players north and south of the river access to world-class padel infrastructure.
A Slazenger Padel spokesperson said:
“Padel has experienced an incredible trajectory over the past few years. It’s a highly social sport and a relevant younger brother of tennis, appealing to a wide array of demographics making it a natural fit for our audiences. Through Slazenger Padel, we believe we can grow Slazenger’s brand identity and improve the experience we deliver across the UK.”
Slazenger will also serve as official ball sponsor of the Hexagon Cup 2026 in Madrid, one of padel’s most prestigious international tournaments. Sport remains central to Frasers Group’s long-term strategy, with the expansion reflecting continued investment in participation and community-driven experiences.
Why this matters for Leeds
Leeds was where Slazenger chose to launch its UK padel ambitions, and now the city is getting a second club. With venues in both Seacroft and Millshaw Park, players across Leeds will have convenient access to premium facilities for one of the country’s fastest-growing sports. For the local leisure and fitness sector, it signals continued investment and growing demand. It also reinforces Leeds’ position as a test market for national retail and leisure brands backed by Frasers Group. ![]()
