Trinity Leeds adds Lane7, Footasylum, schuh, Jerk Junction, and an upsized LEGO store as Landsec pushes experience-led leasing strategy
Landsec’s Trinity Leeds is in the middle of a significant tenant refresh, with five new or expanded brands confirmed for the one-million-square-foot city centre destination in 2026. Lane7, the boutique bowling and gaming brand, is taking 23,000 sq ft on Albion Street in the former Wilko unit. Footasylum is opening a 12,000 sq ft flagship in the former Superdry space. Schuh has signed for a new store. Jerk Junction, the Caribbean street food brand, is joining Trinity Kitchen. And the LEGO Store is reopening on 23 April in a larger 456 sq m (approximately 4,900 sq ft) unit after relocating within the centre.
The Shift Towards Experience
The pattern reflects a broader trend in city centre retail: vacated traditional retail space being taken by leisure, entertainment, and food and drink operators. Lane7’s 23,000 sq ft bowling and gaming venue in the old Wilko site is the clearest example, replacing a general merchandise retailer with a social entertainment brand that draws evening and weekend footfall. Footasylum’s move from The Core shopping centre to a bigger unit at the centre signals its pull for retailers looking to upgrade their city centre presence. The company secured a £35 million funding package to support its UK expansion and is also expanding internationally into the Gulf and DACH regions.
Freight Island, the Manchester-born food and drink concept, has also been announced for the centre, adding to its repositioning around food, drink, and leisure alongside the traditional retail offer. The destination already has more than 100 brands and over 40 restaurants, bars, and cafes under its roof, anchored by a flagship Zara store, Everyman Cinema, and the rotating street food vendors at Trinity Kitchen.
“This announcement follows a wave of big names set to open at Trinity Leeds, including Footasylum, schuh and Freight Island, alongside LEGO’s upsized store, highlighting our continued success in evolving and strengthening the centre’s overall offering.”
— Steven Foster, Centre Director (Landsec)
The Wider Leeds Retail Picture
The leasing activity at Trinity Leeds sits alongside a similarly busy period at Victoria Leeds, where owner Redical has signed a string of first-to-region retailers including AS Colour, ALO, Lisa Angel, Finisterre, and Randox Health. At White Rose, Landsec reported 9% sales growth in the golden quarter with Primark doubling its space and JD tripling its footprint. Taken together, the three destinations suggest Leeds’ retail and leisure leasing market is in strong health heading into UKREiiF in May — a useful signal for the 16,000 property and investment delegates arriving in the city.
Why this matters for Leeds
The Trinity Leeds lettings tell a story about where city centre retail is heading. Landsec is replacing vacated traditional retail units with entertainment, leisure, and food operators that drive evening and weekend footfall. Combined with Victoria Leeds’ run of first-to-region signings and White Rose’s strong sales performance, the picture across all three major Leeds shopping destinations is one of active leasing and deliberate repositioning. For the Leeds business community, that’s a positive signal about the city’s attractiveness to national and international brands.![]()
